The MOMS Club ® of San Diego- Central & Beaches is a club that was built for you and by you. Our chapter uses the special interests of its mothers to tailor a calendar that meets the likes and needs of each member and their children. From visiting local indoor play centers and museums to craft dates and themed play dates, we’re here to offer support and friendship to women in all stages of motherhood.
Monthly Socials: Our monthly socials, or business meetings, are a chance for us to get together and discuss what our chapter has been up to and to approve the next month’s calendar. These monthly gatherings are opportune times to discuss how we would like to see our chapter move forward and how we can make that happen.
Book Exchange: Our new book exchange will take place at the monthly socials. Members are not obligated to contribute to the book exchange, but the donation bin is open for members to leave books that they think other members might enjoy.
Park Play Time: Our monthly calendar usually includes park play dates at locales that are usually within our boundaries. We might meet at the bay, at a park downtown or a favorite neighborhood park. We are always open to suggestions.
Coffee at the Park: While this event is fairly new to our chapter, it’s an event that’s stimulating for both ourselves and our children. One of our mama’s brings a Coffee Traveler from Starbucks and we enjoy a cup of joe in the relaxing setting of an area park while our children are free to explore the park’s play structure.
Late Afternoon Play Group: While morning play times are most often popular, a late afternoon play group might accommodate the mamas with children in preschool, the mamas with a child or two in elementary school or the mamas who have regular commitments weekday mornings.
Book Club: We probably all love to read, but don’t have the time to do so. Our book club solves that with multiple meetings throughout the month and no pressure to read the book in its entirety. We’ve found that the conversations that stem from whatever we’ve read can be equally as stimulating. Here are two examples of what we have read- The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz and How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish.
Hikes and Outside Exploring: Our monthly calendar most often includes a hiking date at a local and child-friendly hiking trail. We might explore Lake Murray, Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve, Cabrillo National Monument, Mt. Soledad or Tecolote Canyon. Have somewhere you’d like to hike or would you like other mamas to explore Old Town or Seaport Village with? If so, come join us and we’d be more than happy to add it to our calendar. We also often have field trips around San Diego at places such as Home Depot and the Fire Station.
Crafts: If creating is important to you or your child, we have many crafting opportunities. Some of these are geared toward moms, such as pillow making, painting, and ornament making while others are geared toward the kids, such as snow globes, card making, and bracelet making.
Monthly Moms’ Night Out: A night out or in with your girlfriends is sometimes just what the doctor ordered and we offer this nearly every month.
Family Days: Throughout the year we have occasional Family Days to bring the whole family together. These are weekend or evening events that include Beach days, Zoo outings, Holiday Parities, and more!
We always welcome ideas for new special interest groups. Whether you like to knit, crochet, sew, drink coffee or walk near the bay, there’s bound to be other mamas interested in joining with you.
